To provide a hub for the local community to create and innovate with the support of the neighbourhood house. Community members will be supported by 'hub facilitators' under the direction of an employment worker to create their own micro businesses to sell items they have produced. The shop hub will provide employment and income opportunities to people with a disability, mental health issue and those with language as a barrier to employment.
The shop hubs will run every second month over a period of 12 months and will be widely publicised through the House networks, partnerships and local community connections.

KNLC is actively working with local organisations to address the learning and employment needs of various marginalised groups. KNLC acknowledges that classroom based learning with a view to sustainable employment is not always the best fit for everyone in the community. Traditional learning models do not always lead to employment opportunities for some groups. This project will work directly with our local community to achieve skills and to attempt to generate an income for marginalised groups. The local community will be supporting employment based programs through purchase of goods, interaction with the hub shop holders and feedback for future growth.

Great initiative for marginalised members of our local community. It should build connections, skills and create positive futures for all involved in the program.

Innovative inclusive proactive and enabling. This programme reaches out in a most meaningful and constructive way to enhance skill development in a creative and encouraging tailored learning environment to people who might otherwise not have the opportunity to learn grow and be confident productive members of the workforce and the general community.

This project should prove very popular and valuable to the local community, particularly at a time when, more than ever, people need to be supported in their quest for meaningful employment.
