Fantastic Idea. Any one who has read about the success in the town of Forrest will realize this is sure to have benefits for the entire community.

Murrindindi Cycling Club is working on developing a mountain bike trail network to the north of Eildon. Our project for which we are seeking funding will form part of this network and specifically link the town of Eildon to the dam wall and adjacent boat marinas. Currently many people cycle and walk up Sugarloaf road which is narrow and has no shoulders. They not only place themselves at risk, but pose a hazard for traffic- especially vehicles towing boats. A cycle track in the adjacent bushland will be safer, more scenic, and will encourage more people to walk and ride.
As previously identified, there is a missing link between Eildon and its major tourist draw-card -the lake. Many lake users regularly walk or ride to the town for exercise or supplies, and there are also a number of community members who regularly walk or ride a loop incorporating the dam wall. This project forms part of a larger plan to create a MTB network, which we hope will attract visitors year round, providing long reaching benefits to small businesses, tourism, and holiday accommodation in Eildon. Mountain bike tourism has been proven to breath new life into small towns.

A great idea. So family has visited Mt Beauty, Bright, Beechworth, Yackandanda, ALBURY/Wodonga specifically for mountain biking. The better ones get visited regularly.
What a fantastic opportunity to grow tourism in the Eildon area. The benefits of bike networks, to local business operators, including food and accommodation, have already been proven in places such as Bright (Vic) and Derby (Tas). As a local, our family would use this trail all the time. The current roads are not safe for children, or for adults. It will tie in brilliantly with the proposed extension of the Murrindindi rail trail extension from Alexandra out to Eildon.

Fantastic project. Will bring economic benefits to the community along with the health benefits associated with bike riding and outdoor recreation. This will compliment the outdoor recreation sector around Eildon which is already a great source of employment.
