The one day Eco-Skills Festival is an invitation for all of the community to be exposed to eco-skills such as tiny home design construction, mushroom cultivation, home and neighbourhood waste to energy systems, composting, urban agriculture, hydroponics, permaculture and eco-cooking. Throughout the day experts and experienced practitioners from diverse backgrounds and cultures will share their knowledge through workshops, on site examples and talks. Focused on making ecological justice easy to do, there will be local music, art and performances to invite the community into a thriving equitable and ecological future we can all share.

There is a desire and need within the community for greater knowledge and skills that contribute to minimising waste and living ethically in urban environments. Many of these skills aren't available to or being accessed by disadvantaged groups and eco-skills are diverse across different cultures. This festival will focus on open access to the emerging eco-skills and an equitable transition for all. The partner organisation Jesuit Social Services's Brunswick site will host the festival as well bring 40 years' experience of working with marginalised communities particularly in Melbourne's Northern suburbs. Community thrives on equal access to eco-skills.

We have a long way to go when it comes to the environment, sustainability & waste. Education is the key to changing habits and behaviours. An eco-skills festival bringing the community together is an inclusive and fun way to continue the journey toward the goal of being cleaner, more sustainable and kinder to the planet.
