As East Gippsland United Football Club grows in membership and skill, the players and teams are being invited to attend more and more competitions and events. EGUFC has always been an inclusive club however the travel involved can make the sport unattainable for some families. To keep competition affordable for families the club would like to purchase a coach and trailer to ensure that can be used to transport members to the events. This will ensure that Soccer is available to more kids as the club grows.

EGUFC is keen to get kids outside and joining the world game. As such the club hosts summer and winter mini roos competitions for the under 12 age groups however there currently isnt scope for teenagers in the immediate area so the club travels as far west as Trafalger for league games and as far east as Merimbula for invitational games. The junior club has capacity for more players however many parents cannot commit the time and cost of taking their kids to these games. With the option of a club bus we can offer this alternative to families.

The challenges of travelling long distances to soccer matches across Gippsland is a financial burden on many families and a bus would assist the football community of East Gippsland significantly. EGUFC is a significant soccer club in the eastern region and needs the support to respond to the growing sport.

Our family have been involved with EGUFC for the last 7 years when one of our sons started playing in under 14s (he now plays for mens reserves). We love that the club is family friendly and provides a nurturing environment for the children. The social impact on our boys both on and off the field has been incredible and they have made life long friends. One of our sons (and there are other families in my position too) has an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and the club has welcomed him, the reserves players are fantastic and he is always made to feel part of the team.
Having the funds to purchase a bus would take the financial burden from families as the cost of travel is what hinders a lot of children from entering into sport. Travelling together as teams also supports and nurtures social and emotional skills in children that is lacking today due to the high use and reliance on electrical devices.

The ability to take part in this sport is important to kids of all ages and should not be restricted because of distance or economical problems. After all the government is promoting healthy lifestyles through sport and this project would do just that.
