Mirawara’s Earth Core program aims to create a community of young people that reconnects with nature through exciting activities including: rock-climbing, abseiling, caving, Indigenous culture awareness, overnight bushwalking, mountain biking and earth-skills workshops. The program will run for one year with seasonal workshops and activities for all ages and abilities. Indigenous and non-indigenous youth from our region will be able to access the Earth Core program, building resilience together for a more inclusive and sustainable future. The program will be fully subsidised for 12-25 year olds and partially subsidised for the broader community. All Indigenous events will be free.
The Earth Core program promotes healthy, safe and inclusive communities. It will benefit the health and wellbeing of the young people in our community, along with providing ecological place-based learning. The local youth will also have the opportunity to learn about the Indigenous history and culture of the Dja Dja Wurrung people. Our programs will also be open to the wider community and the cost will be subsidised by the “Pick My Project” funding. The events with a focus on Indigenous culture, will be free of charge and cater for all people aged between 12-25 years.
