11 November 2019 marks the 100 year anniversary of the first plane to land in Nhill and so beginning the town's important aviation history. We propose painting the Noske Silo in Nhill (the largest single cement silo in the southern hemisphere) with a conceptual artwork by artist Jo Lane called "Dream of Flight". This artwork brings together our first experience of flying, the simple joy of launching a paper plane into the air, and the hand of one of Nhill's oldest living pilots Merv Schneider.

We hope this piece will join the Silo Art Trail to help boost tourism in Nhill and the surrounding area by encouraging people to stop and explore our rich aviation history at the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre.

Yes, yes yes! The Noske Silos are indicative of the Nhill skyline so what a wonderful idea to have them as part of the Silo Art Trail. Something else to add to the importance of Aviation history in Nhill. Lesley

This looks fantastic! Reminiscent of the Australian film Paper Planes - also inspiring.

Thanks so much Shezza!
Merv has a great story of getting into trouble flying paper planes at school too. Fingers Crossed!
