Donald has limited activities for young people to participate in physical activity during the week. Surrounding districts have skate parks that provide a safe and purpose built area to encourage physical activity. The design of the park will cater for a wide range of youth. Users will use the space to practice skills on specially designed equipment. Safety is paramount for all in our community and with a significant aged population we are concerned that sharing pedestrian areas between skating youth and the elderly may result in injury. The same location is also identified as a future youth precinct.
Rising obesity is affecting our small communities and in young people it is increasing. Developing areas that encourage physical activity in any identified population is creating life changing skills which result in healthier adults in our community. Additionally the area chosen has access to water fountains which encourages young people to drink more water.
Social inclusion and engagement is also fostered when infrastructure brings like minded people together. The sense of belonging and pride helps increase resilience in the youth and also reduces the incidences of mental health issues.

We have several parks but would all benefit so much from an outdoor area for bigger kids to enjoy!

The youth in our town need more places to go for fun especially those the are not involved in the usual sports like football, tennis ect.

This is a good project to support as it is something for the kids and kids at heart. Usually it is the first thing that is requested when the younger members of any community are asked, and sometimes the hardest to find funding for. Get in and vote to get it over the line.
