Yarra Ranges Tourism has identified the latest technology in an Australian first to service the visitor with regional information. Our planned network of Digital Visitor Information Kiosks will be placed at the top visited attractions and public spaces throughout the region. They are designed to be a convenient way for the visitor to discover relevant information encouraging them to visit more attractions and experiences. They will deliver information in other languages and send directional information straight to visitor's mobile devices. The Kiosks also have the capability to deliver live video chat from a remote location.

The Digital Visitor Information Kiosk network will further enhance regional employment opportunities in the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges. In recent years local employment has been steadily transitioning from industries such as manufacturing, railways and forestry. The growth of tourism continues to offer substantial growth for the community to work close to home.
The Digital Visitor Information Kiosk project directly encourages tourists to visit more attractions providing suggestions on where to go next, and can be multi-lingual. Additional employment is created when visitors stay longer and spend more.

I like that this will broaden visitors and locals basic knowlege of what is available in our region. I learnt years ago that a tourist is anyone who is more than 5 kms from home. If locals knew more they could become promoters to thier own friends, family and visitors.

Will help visitors learn what's available to see in our region PLUS providing the information in the visitors language of choice.

I love it!
Distributed information for tourists, in their own language, which they can also immediately send to their mobile phones, sounds like a great idea and really helpful for tourists as they visit the region.
