This project will connect local community groups and individuals with Gisborne Primary School.
In the kitchen garden we will dig, grow, create and eat; as well as educate future green thumbs about growing their own food, healthy eating and caring for our environment. This project will turn an overgrown patch of land into a colourful vibrant kitchen garden for all to enjoy.

Produce grown from the garden will be used within the schools healthy eating program as well as being donated to local retiree groups and other not for profit organisations.

This community garden will promote a sense of pride of place where residents and school students can work together to cultivate fresh healthy produce.

The Garden will be located at Gisborne Primary School and partner with local groups including Macedon Ranges Health, the local Men’s shed, Gisborne Guides, and the local Casserole Club.

Members of the community will be encouraged to come and assist in the garden as well as help educate primary students. This will engage both the younger and older generations to interact over a common shared interest.

My kids love growing their own veggies at home (even if they don't eat them!).
It would be great if they could continue to do it at school.

Particularly good to get fussy eaters interested in food

An excellent project involving a broad cross section of the community.

All schools should have a Kitchen Garden and I particularly like this concept of older community members engaging with the students. Our senior citizens are in invaluable source of knowledge just waiting to be utilised.

This would be an excellent project for the kids to understand the process "from the garden to the table" to encourage healthy eating.
