The Diamond Hills Lookout, will be a multipurpose pavilion that takes in sweeping views of the Dandenong Ranges, city skyline and the local Nillumbik shire. Diamond Hills is one of the highest points in metropolitan Melbourne, nestled amongst urban development within Greensborough. The design concept of the pavilion will channel the character of local architect Greg Burgess whose architecture has transformed the landscape of Nillumbik Shire in recent times. The chosen location is popular for quiet reflection and contemplation by locals. This multipurpose pavilion has the potential to serve local bird watches, amateur astronomers, tai chi classes and family picnics.

The Diamond Hills Reserve is an underdeveloped parkland that currently serves the local community with facilities that include a sports oval, shared footpaths and children’s play equipment that are regularly frequented. Supplementing the reserve with the Diamond Hills Lookout would make the park more inclusive to a broader demographic of the local community who can use the pavilion for non-sporting activities. The pavilion would provide shelter to visitors who come for the natural views and vantage point for the occasional fireworks display. The local businesses within walking distance at Apollo Parkways should also benefit with increased patronage.

Great Idea, but it needs to be on top of the hill to encompass all the views. Missing the City and sunsets would be a fatal misuse of funds.
