Devenish public hall project is to install a disabled unisex toilet inside the hall, currently there is an outside toilet beside the hall which does not have access for wheelchairs/walkers and used by men, there is one toilet inside which is accessible by climbing several stairs which is manly used by females. However our disabled, elderly community and visitors are not catered for. The hall is used regularly for all sorts of functions which are catered for by the community, the income from these functions help the upkeep of hall, unfortunately not sufficient to fund the required disabled toilet.

Devenish has recently had the silos painted and this has drawn hundreds of visitors to the area, which is fantastic, putting Devenish on the map, there are bus trips whereby the hall caters morning teas, light lunches and afternoon teas and sadly not able to offer a toilet for the elderly or disabled. Installing toilets will not only cater for tourist/visitors but also the local community, the elderly or disabled will often not get involved in activities and miss out, which can lead to loneliness and depression. We want to ensure everyone has a chance to be involved in activities.
