At the 5th Northcote Scout Hall, a new fence line, native garden, bouldering wall, climbing ropes and nature play zone is vital for upgrading our highly developmental programs with youth.

We want to serve many more youth - from all corners of the community - with proven pathways that reliably develop healthy, resilient and caring youth who are capable of leadership and teamwork. We do this very well. However, we need to transform our outdoor spaces to serve more families.

Without a large public grant, we cannot make these changes for local youth (our annual operations budget is < $35k/y).

We are open to everyone and hundreds of volunteer hours per term currently serve over 100 families in our community every week. But demand from families is high - waitlists are long. We could easily double our membership for 5-15yo's.

We need to upgrade our property to serve higher volumes of youth with programs that engage them actively in a wider range of outdoor spaces built for adventurous play and learning.

Importantly, an upgrade to our old fence will make our property more friendly, safe and secure. It will be more attractive to hirers (vital income) and for neighbouring residents.

Scouting gives kids a great start and encourages their growth and confidence in tackling challenges. I hope this project gets the funding necessary to go ahead. Good luck.

This project will provide excellent facilities for youth to participate in outdoor activities, helping to build resilience, confidence and physical capability while helping to also reduce Type-2 diabetes, obesity, and mental health problems in our young people.
