A groundbreaking new art experience under the sea. This live-music-sculpture will be located on the Mornington Peninsula and manifest as a physical experience for locals and visitors to explore via snorkelling or glass bottom vessel.

Drawing on sounds emanating from our ocean ecology (sealife, rocks, waves and beyond), musicans and producers will create a transcending live music score that people can hear whilst exploring the underwater world.

The source of the sounds in the live music score will be mapped in a way that sparks curiosity and converation around what the ocean is saying to us.

Adventurous and educational, DEEP SOUND will use art as a tool for meaningfully connecting people to our local marine environment.

In questioning: 'what it might be like to live underwater if rising seas made it impossible to survive on land?', the experience aims to provoke rich conversation around living sustainably and encourage the inevitable development of the Mornington Peninsula to happen in a way that speaks to our precious natural identity.

Additionally, the collaborative approach to making the project will act as a catalyst for connection between sometimes disparate regional artists. A key to a thriving creative community.

Fascinating. Can you elaborate on how you are going to achieve the deep sounds? This sounds interesting

Thanks so much for your interest Collective Arts and Culture!

There is some experiementation to be done in the creative development phase. In essence however, the plan is to use hydrophones to record oceanic sounds which will then be produced into live improvised music and heard by audiences via bluetooth wireless waterproof headphones. All to be tested and tweaked to ensure zero impact on ocean life.

Does that give you a sense? Feel free to reach out again.
