Dear High Street, a community film project

With 'Dear High Street' we invite students from 6 local schools and Wurundjeri Educators to work together collecting and preserving the stories (past, present & future) of the street that links us together.
High street has a long and interesting history for Melbourne and it’s changing rapidly. The stories will be collected from different shops whereby the shopkeepers enlighten us with their wisdom, from a historical and personal perspective . We will establish a partnership with our new wonderful Picture House. The film will be a gift to the community, celebrating our shapers & makers...

With 'Dear High Street', we like to provide opportunities for creative partnerships between schools and the community so young people are able to:

• connect with and learn from our Aboriginal Elders;
• give voice to the people that make and shape High Street;
• foster curiosity & creativity;
• foster a sense of pride in celebrating stories that connect us & contribute to a sense of belonging;
• build confidence in gaining film making skills and working together as part of a film crew;
• create bridges, make connections (intergenerational, cross cultural) in a safe and joyful environment.
