After our project has been picked!
This is a first of a series of walking paths through our township.
"I walked with my children as they rode to school. I wasn't worried about the heavy trucks, tourists or local traffic as we now have a walking path. I met a friend in town who was able to bring her wheelchair bound mother. We feel free to be able to move around safely and my children don't have to feel scared riding to school, the corner store or sports training."

Bike/walking paths limit the impacts to local environment by directing traffic along formalized tracks. They will also improve the amenity of the town for residents and visitors and enable safe pedestrian transit around the towns busy roads that feed the Great Ocean Road.
The paths will facilitate a range of community and recreation facilities to meet the needs of local residents and promote community health by elaborating on activities available for different age groups to socialise and interact. Building connecting formed paths will improve accessibility and connectivity for locals to the environment, facilities, amenities and businesses.

A pathway for the deans marsh area is a must. We are forced to walk on a road where the increased traffic and disregard of the speed limit is making it a danger to everyone. Deans marsh township is a 60 kph zone however people pass our house exceeding this speed limit on a daily basis and making it a dangerous place. Please. A safe walking area is paramount to everyone’s safety.

This is a town where everyone loves to walk, but we all taking a big risk on the road & in the slippery mud verge, hoping a car or truck doesn’t hit us.... from kids to seniors.... my elderly Mum would love a walk to the shops, but we have to do a 1 minute drive, how bonkers!!!! Get the path built ASAP it’s 2018, not 1818.

Having a grandchild in my care ,I would like to be able to walk down to the shop and around to the playground and Community Cottage. The present state of the path is difficult enough to walk along , having to go out on to the road at various points ,sharing the space with vehicles going at speed while pushing a stroller with a 2 year old. Yesterday was extremely hazardous since it is riddled with large puddles and slimy mud following recent rainfall. There are a number of young ones living in this area , I cannot see how they're able walk along there at all after my experience on Sunday.

1. This project is VITAL for the safety for the elderly and families who live along this road. Traffic volumes on C152 (Birregurra-Deans Marsh Rd) have doubled in last 5 years. Average speed in 60kph zone registered on VicRoads traffic count of January 2018 was 77kph! For once lets have some pro-active funding for safety issues rather than re-active outrageous money spent on Deepdene Rd and Birregurra-Forrest Road crossroads of $4.8 million for a round about, when rumble bars, flashing lights on all 4 roads would do the job just as well.

2. Tourism Victoria now encourage tourists to use the inland route when driving to or fro visiting the 7 Epostles past of the diversion takes vehicles through Deans Marsh many using the C152. The road has as a result become a major arterial road, yet there are NO soft edges or anything close to a pathway for pedestrians (many of whom are children walking to and fro the school bus stop at the General Store) for people to take refuge on from vehicles hurtling along at 80kph+.

Everyone deserves safe passage through their town, whether they live in a suburban or rural setting. Some loop paths would also greatly enhance the towns "livability". Support 100%

Deans Marsh really needs walking tracks to make it more user friendly & connected. Too many roads around the town.

Agree wholeheartedly. I'm a grandmother who feels exposed and fearful everyone I take my grandaughter for a walk.

Deans Marsh and it’s residents really need this. It’s a matter of safety. We take our son in his pram to the park almost everyday, zig zagging across the road to avoid cars, trusting that they see us and are paying attention. My letters to the Shire have fallen on deaf ears. I want this to happen so badly and I’ll participate and support anything that helps this cause.

The close calls I see on this road everyday. Large trucks speeding through town, past
School children who are Forced to walk in soaking wet grass to avoid them. Not to mention the poor parents pushing prams on 45degree angles to avoid being in the road. A path will make all the difference and cut down on people driving to avoid the danger of walking!

Pathways and ease of access around Deans Marsh, amongst other infrastructure, encourages young families to move here- they see a welcoming community.

A must. I drive through town each morning and see the high school kids walking on the road to catch the bus. It’s dangerous and easily resolved.

I know people with young children who have moved out of Deans Marsh because of they feared for their children’s lives walking to and from school, to the shop or the oval. Worse when they had bikes. This town is now a designated alternative route to the coast and the traffic has increased enormously. Foot and bike paths would make this town child friendly and enable disabled access

This project is absolutely essential for the safety of parents and young children walking on the streets, people walking their dogs and to protect the local landscape.

This project is essential for our township for the safety of our future generations, for our health and wellbeing, somewhere for our community members and visitors to walk. The traffic on the Winchelsea Deans Marsh Rd and Birregurra Rd in particular has tripled over the last few years and there are no safe paths for us to walk to our General Store, Primary School and other town facilities. Our landcare group is highly supportive of having pathways and walking tracks in the district and are happy to provide plantings to beautify the tracks.
