Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia (CaSFFA)

The Czech and Slovak Film Festival will showcase and celebrate a range of classic and modern Czech and Slovak films through their yearly festival at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, ACMI. In 2019, the festival will further engage and connect the community through an additional stream of free film sessions and a major exhibition of Czech, Slovak and Australian artists at a Melbourne CBD gallery. The festival has a strong history of providing free events to the community, highlighted through free live film score performances at the Melbourne Town Hall and yearly exhibition programs at ACMI.

The Czech and Slovak Film Festival will celebrate the cultures of the Czech and Slovak people abroad and in Australia in City of Melbourne's most accessible and central venues. The free community stream and major exhibition will engage audiences through educational and historical perspectives, leading to broader understanding of power, conflict, gender, migration and a reduction of discriminatory attitudes. CaSFFA will increase cross-cultural engagement through an additional Hungarian free sidebar film program and co-presentations with the Melbourne Cinémathèque and Jewish International Film Festival. This entirely volunteer run festival adds to Melbourne's vibrant cultural scene and needs your support!
