Cycling Without Age is a program developed in Europe that is spreading around the world. We are aiming to bring this marvellous and collaborative program to our coastal community for the benefit of aged care residents and local community groups. Partnering initially between the keen cycling community of Port Fairy and residents connected with Moyne Health Services, Cycling Without Age - Port Fairy will provide access for residents wishing to feel the wind through their hair cruising the community on custom made Trio bikes. For more details about Cycling Without Age visit cyclingwithoutage.org.au

Social isolation and loneliness can be a difficult issue to deal with, especially when your ability to get out and about is limited. The aim for our project is to connect our local community with members of our community who may not easily or regularly have access to getting out and about with a visitor or friend. Equally the program encourages young and old alike to see the benefits of being socially and physically active (as 'pilots' of the taxis) and build their sense of connectedness within the wider community. The team is ready - we just need bikes!

Great vehicle for social inclusion especially in a cycle friendly town with many frail elderly, like Port Fairy.

A great way to use bikes, good for the environment and a healthy activity and great social interaction for residents.

I'm sure the residents in ages care would gain lots of benefits from this.

To offer those of limited abilities in our community, especially our Elders the opportunity to experience a mode of transport that offers reminiscence, social inclusion, broader access to the outdoor environment and nature and the joy associated with riding a bike!
