By starting up a Cycling Without Age chapter in Maryborough Vic, the local cycling community, volunteers and youth will be able to take nursing home residents and senior citizens on bike rides in Maryborough and the surrounding area. This will build relationships and allow volunteer pilots to give something back to the elderly population who have 'done their bit'. It will allow senior citizens with limited mobility to venture outdoors and enjoy "The Right to Wind in Your Hair". It will bridge a gap between younger and older populations in Maryborough, promote 'active citizenship' and enhance trust in the community.
We're all heading on the same path that our grandparents are on. It's an inevitable journey of life. Cycling Without Age reminds us of our relationship with our elders and starts with the simple act of generosity. Give our time to them when they gave us their care and time. There are lots of stories to be shared through storytelling from our elders, but also from us. They want to listen to us too and through this bridge we form meaningful relationships. Life doesn't have to end at a given age, we can embrace it through something as simple cycling.

Hi Sky, great question. The trishaws are custom made in Denmark. They have a small electric motor as well as seat belts x2, a weather hood and heavy duty fleece blanket. They cost $15,000.- ea to get shipped to Melbourne. I would like to start with 6 trishaws = $90,000.- This will leave me with some spare to purchase helmets, safety vests, tools and extra tubes, tyres etc.
By purchasing 6 it will enable every resident at Havilah a ride every 2 weeks 🤗
Really love this idea!
Thank you every one for your support. Please share so we can make Cycling Without Age Maryborough a reality!

A fantastic project for an aging population. What a great interaction between generations
Great stuff Liesbeth, positive outcomes on all fronts!
Fantastic way to get the elderly out to enjoy the sun.
A great project to allow our older community to get out and socialize. So many benefits for both their mental and physical health.
