Balit Ngulu Aboriginal Children's Legal Service provides legal and cultural support to ATSI youth aged 10-17 in Victoria.
We are aiming to shift the trajectory for these kids who are over-represented in both the child protection and youth justice jurisdictions.
We do this by linking them back to their community and country by visiting Bunjilaka, Rumbalara & Bangerang Cultural Centre.

Victoria's statistics are alarming for ATSI Youth:
-10 times more likely to be removed from their parents
-24 times more likely to be locked up
-they make up 53% of all children in detention on an average night.
Yet our First Peoples make up less than 4% of Victoria's population.

What we know is getting these kids into school, sport and culture can be the catalyst for truly shifting the direction these most vulnerable members of our community are headed towards.
