A community project, exhibition including a series of short performances inviting engagement between general audiences and refugee individuals, exploring their experience, Installed in a disaster relief tent that will tour around Victoria to work with school children, newly arrived and established communities. The installation revolves around the theme of the “bukjeh”, a sack or swag, in which refugees collect their small number of belongings for their journey.

Bukjeh is about a shared participation, about connecting two halves of a discussion, at a personal level. So as well as engaging new audiences and new participants in arts and culture, it initiates a truly meaningful and personal, shared, participation, that will have a real and immediate impact on the wider culture of the city. Bukjeh
is exposing a whole audience that might never otherwise get to any art and culture institute. an audience that never met a refuge or generally against the idea of a dialogue.

An open and honest insight to people's lives and how they have been impacted through experiences often beyond their control. A must see!

Terrific idea! A great way to bring the experience to life and open dialogue. Good luck.
