Melbourne has a strong arts scene that is fueled by the independent artists who work non-stop and make very little return from their craft. Through the Tool Library we aim to make equipment (like lighting, cameras, mics, ect.) accessible for artists who may not be able to afford it due to the expensive price tags or because these items are needed so infrequently. The equipment we will provided will be accessible to independent artists on free short term rentals and will aid artists in producing, advertising, creating and documenting contemporary Australian art.
The northern suburbs of Melbourne is the home to many of Australia's next generation of great artists, however many of them are living a penniless existence while they focus their time, money and efforts into creating art that documents our culture and inspires our community. The Creative Tool Library will allow a greater quality of art be be produced in Melbourne and sent interstate and internationally. This project will not only benefit the artists but also our wider community through entertainment and by bringing people together.
