Creating a Social Enterprise

This project will purchase an old caravan and convert it into a mobile coffee shop. The caravan
will be totally reurbished to include extensive water storage, a servery, work benches,
refrigerator, oven and coffee making facility. The completed Coffee Van will be provided to the
City of Melton to use as a Social Enterprise for disadvantaged youth in the City of Melton. The
group, who will be taking up the Caravan as a Social Enterprise, will also be encouraged to help
in the renovation of the van.

The City of Melton has significant numbers of young people who are unable to find work lack
direction and become involved in anti social behaviour. The City of Melton will use the Coffee
Van Social Enterprise to provide hospitality training as well as paid employment for some of
Meltons young people. To further increase the 'ownership' of the enterprise, young people
will be invited to be involved in the building of the van ,where they will pick up new skills in
construction, cabinet making, mechanics, auto electrics and painting.
