The Cranbourne Turf Club is a premier sporting facility for horse training and racing. Planning application has been made for the construction of a 1000 seat Function Centre on site which will be serviced by on-site professional chefs.
It is proposed to showcase sustainable practices by constructing a community garden that grows food for use on site from water harvested from the roof and nutrients collected and composted from site activities.

The new garden will be visible to all patrons and will showcase local horticulture, sustainable business practices and demonstrate to others how to reduce waste by closing nutrient loops and growing food onsite.
Charity meals are also produced for the community and having locally grown produce will enable chefs to prepare more meals for charity events held at the new pavilion.
Produce grown will include heirloom varieties not found in supermarkets and grown in new food growing modules that are made from 100% recycled Council wheelie bins.
Turning composted manure into healthy "fertilizer for food" is a key sustainability outcome.
