A covered sports arena will promote all-weather participation in equestrian events for all riders and abilities. The clubs represent children and adults from ages four to 70. Four riding clubs share the facility, as well as guest competitors and clinicians. We wish to provide a safe area for all equestrian sports, encouraging greater participation and providing the opportunity to hold major competitions locally. This will give riders who want to advance in equestrian sports greater opportunity to fulfill their goals, limiting the need to leave the district. This could also include Riding for the Disabled (RDA) events.

We aim to provide all-weather facilities to members and potential members that will allow them to achieve a partnership with their horses, increase their skill levels, and encourage new members of all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds to participate. Our grounds are capable of holding 300 people or more and include areas where skills can be practiced. However, these facilities are subject to temperatures between minus two degrees to 45 degrees. A covered arena would increase participation and comfort for animals and humans alike. Likewise, basic accommodation would entice interstate educators and more remote locals to join.

The covered arena would be of great value to the Sunraysia Equestrian Centre which supports multiple user groups (including Pony Club and Adult Riding Club) plus hosts several Horse Trials each year which bring in horses and riders from all over Australia. The Centre is used for several monthly clinics and rally days, some of which have had to be cancelled or postponed due to the weather, costing clubs a great deal. A covered arena would ensure planned events can go ahead and provide much needed shelter from the summer sun and rainy winter days. It would also put Mildura "on the map" as a great facility and bring in more people to our area.

Mildura and District has many varied Equestrian clubs that would benefit from this project. It would be a facility that would service these club communities with opportunities to create competitions, clinics, training days protected from climatic conditions. Being located rural remote, members from our local equestrian clubs currently need to travel many hours to access a similar facility that is available for shared/ public use. It would be a facility that would be well used and appreciated!

This would be a great addition to the local horse community! Sun safe in summer and will keep us out of the rain in winter!

This would give the horse community many more opportunities to hold events and clinics

This proposed covered area will not only greatly support the local equestrians, but will entice more people to travel to our region in order to compete, attend educational clinics and evolve them selves both on horseback as well as socially.
Given the current hardship of rural Australia, having a place of recreational outlet is vital for mental health. While traveling to our area people need fuel, food, horse agistment and accommodation. All of which supports our community.
This will be of massive benefit in multiple ways.
