We would like to restore this historic and important artefact to, as close as possible, it's original appearance. There are only three of these guns still in existence in Australia and the committee is keen to make sure that it is able to guarantee the existence of this item into the future. This project would also help protect the cannon from weather conditions and provide a focal point for the community. It would also be available to the wider community, in particular, as a tourist attraction.
This project would help to provide a focal point for the community during Anzac celebrations. It would also encourage the wider community to visit and learn more about the local area.

Many aspects of the contributions made by the residents of small communities like Coonoeer. Bridge to WW1 and WW2 are fading away over time, which makes it all the more important to preserve historic artefacts such as this cannon for the benefit of future generations.
