This project will engage people living in the Yarra Ranges to learn what influences young people’s thoughts about healthy sexual relationships. In the digital age where pornography is so accessible, all adults have a role in encouraging young people to be critical in their thinking about relationships and sex, what love and affection, and healthy, respectful relationships look and feel like. Using community conversations, this project will build the ability and confidence of the community to talk to young people about these issues. Funding will be used to engage experts to facilitate conversations and training with youth and adults.

• Parents, carers and professionals are more comfortable in having conversations with young people about healthy relationships, sex and body image.
• Community members are confident in critiquing and challenging the messages about women, men and sex conveyed in mainstream media and pornography.
• Community members are confident in challenging messages that condone violence against women in their public and private life.
• Young people learn about healthy, respectful relationships.

Conversations around what healthy relationships look like are so important to have, especially if we want to keep our young people safe from violence right now and in the future! You have my vote!

You're so right - feeling comfortable to have ongoing conversations about what healthy relationships, particularly healthy sexual relationships, look and feel like is crucial in this digital age when objectification is everywhere and pornography has become the main 'go to' for sex education. Thanks for your vote!
