Peppers Paddock community bushland park is a central community focal point for Wattle Glen residents. However, access throughout the reserve and the wetlands is blocked by Watery Gully Creek and a bridge is required. The proposed bridge will allow pedestrians, cyclists, prams, and people of all abilities to safely cross Watery Gully Creek within Peppers Paddock . It will enable park users to fully enjoy everything that the park has to offer as the bridge will connect the playground, toilet and sheltered BBQ and picnicking facilities on the southern of the creek with the spectacular wetlands and natural trails.

Peppers Paddock is a very short walk from the train station, primary school, tennis club and general store and is very popular with visitors including regular visitation by people with disabilities. It is also enjoyed by bushwalkers, mountain bikers and horse riders using the Green Wedge Trail which runs alongside Peppers Paddock connecting Wattle Glen to Smiths Gully. For local residents and visitors alike, the bridge will allow greater access for people spending time in the park, exploring the wetlands, and connecting with nature and improve the associated health and wellbeing benefits of this natural reserve.

Great idea, however I am not happy with families who reguarly take over the area/BBQ facilities area on a large scale for their own personal family celebrations, etc. excluding the general public from the facilities - surely one of them has a 'back yard' to use for this ??

A bridge will open up the whole of the area, and enhance a beautiful park and wetland area. The hard work of the ‘Friends of Watery Gully’ can then be fully appreciated by locals and vsitors alike.

- unfortunately selfish individuals with their large scale 'family events' functions take over the entire area and facilities for their own cheap and convenient benefit.

This would be a wonderful addition to a community treasure, and a boon to grandparents (and adopted grandparents) trying to keep an eye on the children in their care.

Peppers Paddock is such a great community asset and is very well used. It would be great to use the whole space.

Surely this is an obvious ‘Must”, it will increase the enjoyment for everyone and make Peppers Paddock a far more appealing spot for everyone.

This is a great idea to open up the whole park and long overdue.

Perfect idea! Will make it safer and easier for parents to find their kids who take off over the creek easily.

This would be a great asset for a community that rarely receives govt. attention. This park gets used by lots of folk from out of town. Am concerned that projects like this get buried - this "pick my project" process would seem to be highly skewed in favour of more populated suburbs.

I’ve been thinking about this for ages too. I hope it gets up.

Would be great to have a pedestrian crossing at the round about so that people travelling by train can safely cross to Peppers Paddock. This is a wonderful public space.

Great Idea and definitely needed for the safety of all the children that use the park.

This is a great idea that will increase the use of the park especially for the elderly and disabled. The last time I crossed to the other side of the park I had to climb over branches and logs in the creek without falling in the water to get to the wet land. This would not be possible for some people, and quite dangerous. This little park is improving all the time thanks to the support of the local community.

A bridge will be a practical and aesthetic addition to Peppers Paddock, enhancing one of Wattle Glen's few community facilities.

A practical addition that will integrate the beautiful watery gully wonderland and encourage visitors to enjoy the entire area.

I’ve been dreaming about a bridge here for years! It would be a stunning addition to an already magical location. I miss the old wooden play equipment, maybe that could be on the next project ;)

Peppers Paddock is a park created by the community for the community .
The addition of a footbridge would be well deserved reward for the decades of work the community has put into this park .

Problem is it gets taken over by private personal 'events' such as family celebrations in which the entire area/facilities are excluded from the general public.

Would be so worth it for families to access both sides of the creek and save lots of wet shoes!!!

Probably common sense from a safety point of view as well as the obvious benefits.
