Port Phillip Bay is an integral and iconic part of Victoria, being a tourist and recreational destination, a busy transit way, and a thriving ecosystem. However, a growing population puts increased pressure on the health of the bay. The summer festivals will bring together Port Phillip Bay's various stakeholders to foster stewardship for the Bay and its connected waterways. They will take place in early 2019 on the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas. The festivals will engage the broader community, give a positive platform for stakeholders to educate the public on constructive solutions, and allow data collection on pro-environmental behaviours.
The festivals will empower the broader community to be more active in caring for the bay and more aware of its health. They will provide opportunities for government agencies and NGO’s to motivate people and businesses to reduce their impact on the Bay and support the efforts of stakeholders working to achieve on-ground and in-water outcomes. Bay users will be provided with the chance to join up with NGO’s as volunteers and citizen scientists. The festivals will encourage partnerships between stakeholders from industry, community and government. Food and entertainment will make the festivals enjoyable to a wide range of demographics.

So keen for this!
This sounds cool! Keen to have this in Mornington .
Sounds like a great way to better engage local communities with our beautiful bay - looking forward to it!
Very excited about this!
Sorry, but this is vague, generalized and tells me nothing about who you are and what you will do with $77,000.00.
Hello Teresa, the budget covers the costs associated with running the festivals (AV and stage hire, light & sound technicians, waste management, marquees+tables+chairs hire, safety officers, administrative fees, etc). The festivals will offer a platform for government agencies and NGOs to showcase their work, spread their messages, and educate the public on marine health in a fun and engaging way. As to who we are: Remember The Wild lead a positive shift in the way Australians value the natural world, for the benefits of both people and the environment. The organisation facilitates people’s access to nature, promotes ecological knowledge within the community, encourages public appreciation of the natural world, and supports like-minded initiatives. These objectives are achieved through storytelling, community engagement, nature connection consultation, original
research, and targeted projects and initiatives. http://www.rememberthewild.org.au/
