The Community Wetland and Science Garden design will be consistent with the Master Plan design (recently completed), and include decking, undulating ponds, feature timber logs, a pebble river and rock lined channels planted with indigenous wetland plants. The garden will provide a hands on environmental education space to improve science literacy and wellness for students at Edithvale Primary (360 students and families). It will benefit our local kindergartens (approximately 100 students from two kinders), before-and-after-school care and holiday care providers, and our local nursing home as they can explore, maintain and relax in the natural indigenous gardens.

It will benefit the local community as an educational tool, mindfulness space and ever changing hands-on environment. The garden will also benefit the local environment by capturing and infiltrating storm water, improving the health of local waterways (including our local Ramsar listed wetland and Port Phillip Bay) and continuing the local biodiversity and improving the indigenous habitat. The students at Edithvale Primary School as part of the School's Student Agency and Leadership Program, will have the opportunity to input into the design of this garden. They will also oversee various elements of its implementation.
