The community tutoring progam will provide after school-hours tutoring in English and Mathematics for school-aged students in years 5-12. Tutoring will take place in a student-focused "drop-in" style and tutors will operate in year level groups 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Tutoring sessions will be open to any students in the local area and will run from 4pm-6pm one day a week.
The community tutoring program will benefit the local community by providing a free or donation-based tutoring and homework-help opportunity for years 5-12 students in the local area. Tutoring is highly valued by parents for the additional assistance it provides for their child(ren)'s academic advancement; school teachers work incredibly hard however they are also very stretched and cannot always provide the individualised attention students need to reach their potential. Students are more likely to succeed and remain engaged with school if they are receiving regular attention and input from non-teacher adults.
