The converted community meeting and training space will be accessed at no cost, by various community groups (e.g. Cemetery Trust) that don’t have a “home of their own” to meet regularly or conduct training sessions to meet their members’ needs e.g. governance training. The room will accommodate 20 people and Social and Recreation groups will have a place to conduct their activities such as card games or craft workshops. Unemployed people (youth and older) will have access to local training e.g. Responsible Service of Alcohol, Safe Food Handling, etc, which would provide opportunities to be employed locally and elsewhere.

Provision of a free meeting space/training room, will mean community groups can gather in a facility that provides accessibility, comfort, security, privacy and state of the art facilities to conduct committee business or gather for social purposes. There is currently no where in Boolarra that offers the combination of these amenities at low or no cost. We have 8.1% (ABS 2016) identified 15-19 year old people in Boolarra who have limited employment opportunities within the town. The hotel is a major employer of young people and the provision of basic training (RSA, SFH, hospitality skills) will enhance their employment prospects.
