The Quarry Reserve at Kyneton is a very special place, that currently has a free BBQ and Rotunda area for picnics and relaxation. Close by is the fantastic Campaspe River Walk and Sculpture Park. This area is very popular with tourists and locals, but most do not stay for long as toilet facilities are between 500 metres (open daylight hours only) and 1100 metres (24 hour access). The expanded Campaspe River project involved the construction of a 1 kilometre long, 2.5 metre wide concrete shared trail, and includes five footbridges or culverts along selected sections of the walking trail.

The community will benefit greatly, with increased use by locals, tourists, and especially those with limited mobility. The BBQ/Picnic area as well as the location of the River Walk and Sculpture Park, attracts many tourists and will also improve the visitor experience of the trail and allow those with limited mobility use of the site and acceptable toilet facilities. It will support growth in day trip visitor numbers, jobs and economic outcomes. Toilet facilities are urgently needed to fully capitalise on the investment of the river walk project BBQ area and Sculpture Park.

We as a family walk along the river walk and with having children they need toilets when they get to this part of town. And it would be nice to have bbq gatherIngrid down at this Rotana as well.

Great idea Lions! A toilet block is desperately needed in this area to service the reserve and the river walk.

It defies logic that there is an all weather BBQ facility to encourage visitors and locals alike to take advantage of the facility but deny the user the convenience of toilets. This explains why it is under utilised. The sooner we get toilets the more people will use the facility including the River Walk new Pathway.

Linsay
The area needs a toilet facility to complete the BBQ, Rotundra, Parking area and walking paths that have already been developed.

Toilet facilities are mandatory where there are areas specifically for recreation...which Quarry Reserve certainly is !

Would seem logical to add a toilet block near the rotunda after spending so much money on the new walking path. the nearest toilet is at the new playground in the Gardens, well over a Km away.

We walk our Wags every day down ate the river walk near the racecourse
. The fact that there are no toilet facilities means we don’t stay long or take lunch down there . It’s a beautiful place and we would love to enjoy it more.

I would like a breakdown/ justification of costs before making a donation.
$200,000 seems a bit inflated. Is this the cost quoted by MRSC? Using MRSC chosen contractors?

Hi This is a quote by MRSC and includes paths to the new toilets. The Kyneton Lions Club are looking to get toilets built using, Pick My Project State Government grants, this is NOT a donation site, if you would like to VOTE for this project log on https://pickmyproject.vic.gov.au/rounds/pick-my-project/ideas/community-toilets-at-quarry-reserve-kyneton
