Community splash park/water playground

This proposal for is for a splash park to be located in Craigieburn ANZAC Park for free public use, providing relief from the heat, a venue for children’s birthday parties, and entertainment for people of all ages.

Given the scope of the Pick My Project initiative in supporting smaller community-based initiatives, this proposal suggests the installation of an inexpensive “splash pad” external to the Splash Aquatic Centre, allowing for the use of existing infrastructure on surplus land outside the centre.

This would provide a fantastic resource that can also be built upon in coming years by the local Council.

Craigieburn is a rapidly growing area, having doubled in population over the last decade according to Census data. It is also a designated activity centre, and this facility will provide much-needed additional community infrastructure for residents living in both Craigieburn and surrounding greenfield developments in Greenvale, Mickleham and Kalkallo.

Craigieburn is home to one of the state’s highest populations of young families. This will provide a facility able to be used by all ages and also present opportunities to bring local residents together through the design process to deliver a creative, cost effective facility.
