The CSC Oval is currently used by the Irrewarra Cricket Club, Colac junior football club and Irrewarra Beeac Football Club, with a joint use agreement in place.
The new shared use sports facility lacks infrastructure in the areas of public safety and security, with no oval fencing. In the previous 12 months, the oval has twice been targeted by vandals doing ‘burnouts’, which have caused substantial damage to the playing surface. Unfortunately, the oval was unable to be used in the immediate weeks following the vandalism. Significant time and costs were required levelling and laying new turf and soil.
The proposed addition of PVC Fencing will help deter "hoon" drivers targeting the open space of the oval for vandalism. Ensuring the oval is available for the various sporting groups who utilise and maintain the oval. Saving time and money of these users in repairing the facility after vandals damage it. The fence has a practical benefit in keeping the balls within the oval during football and cricket games while providing an aesthetic benefit to the community.
Local residence will feel safer knowing reckless drivers who have targeted the oval in past will be unable to do so again.

A worthy project, not only will it stop vandals entering the oval but also protect spectators, ie young children from injury as well as vehicles from damage.
