Our Parish is located in close proximity to doctors, specialist practitioners, day surgeries and health clinics . Wendouree is a low social economic area, with generational unemployment. At times patients, family members, carers and community members are waiting for appointments or waiting for family members to recover from day surgery. We want to offer people somewhere to wait, rest and reflect that is safe and peaceful. Our "accessible to all" Community garden setting will be a place people can potter in, meditate or just sit and eat. At times we will offer counselling services, resume writing, and a coffee shop.
People visit the medical precinct from many small communities. They need somewhere to rest, reflect, sit and chat away from doctors waiting rooms. At times we will offer the services of volunteer qualified counsellors to help and counsel those in our local community who struggle with day to day pressures of unemployment, illness and financial problems, giving them a place to talk and be listened to. To better connect our community, we want to help people write resumes and look at job readiness. We want people of all ages and abilities to be able to access our garden and facilities.

I am impressed with this good quality and much-needed project for a community that is baffled by times of need. I believe this project will help those who need a safe space to play, read and reflect on their life whether they are experiencing difficulties in their life or want to express pure joy for what they do have. Good reflection times are much needed in a quiet space if people are to enhance their mental health at times of trouble or joy and I hope this project wins your award.

A great project to progress in our community. Perhaps Kevin Heinze Grow Horticultural Therapy Centre who has a horticultural design team especially targeting this type of project could work into this project as well. Then two worthy causes would benefit.
Thank you. I know of the Kevin Heinz programs. The therapy programs they run are beneficial to people with disabilities and in nursing homes as well as the community...anything we can do to help those in our community to stay connected can have flow on effects...Thanks please ask others to vote also...
