Community Playground and BBQ area enhancement

The recreation reserve which is on the old school site has become a very popular picnic area and overnight free camping area. The existing facilities consist of one electric bbq , a campfire area, toilet facilities, a small playground and a lookout which overlooks the Moorabool Valley. There have been requests from visitors and locals for improved playground equipment and extra bbq facilities. The proposition is to extend the existing bbq area shelter and add another two electric bbqs and to make the playground more inviting by adding another three items of equipment.

The reserve provides a focal point for local involvement and is used extensively by both locals and visitors. eg Queen's Birthday weekend 2018, 40 people on the Sunday and 51 on the Monday. There was a mixture of campers, visiting family groups and locals all attempting to share the one bbq while being spread around the reserve at various picnic tables. Comments left in a suggestion book often refer to the need for extra facilities. The reserve is maintained by local volunteers who do the cleaning and most maintenance. The CFA and the local tennis courts are also on site.
