In early 2016, the previous timber op shop was destroyed by fire. This unfortunate event now gives the opportunity to rebuild a facility designed to engage the broader community in recycling and re-purposing programs. This facility will be accessible to the broader Mornington Peninsula community. All members of the community will be able to donate excess or unwanted household goods as well as attend seminars and presentations on ways to consider recycling and re-purposing in their everyday lives. The facility will operate as an open, welcoming space for the community to meet, volunteer, read, browse and connect with others.
By encouraging recycling and re-purposing of goods, the Op Shop has donated over $100,000 back into local community organisations.
Examples;
Westernport Community Support (Food Parcels, Clothing, Household Goods)
The Bays Aged Care Facility (Dementia Aids)
Crib Point Community Garden
Habitat for Humanity (Building Supplies)
Local CFA Brigades
Shed11 Youth Centre (Support Youth at Risk)
Local Schools Programs (Breakfast Programs, Vegetable Garden, New Books, Student Financial Aid)
Many others
Using recycled and repurposed goods we prepare and distribute baby bundles for new mothers.
The facility also has three disabled volunteers working with supporting adults, and offers work experience for youth.

It's impossible to gauge just how many and by how much people in the Hastings community have been helped over the years by the The Holy Trinity Op Shop. Let's help them now to get this project up and running.
No no no no YES give it the nod best opshop as they do provide opportunity - to clothe, to help, to care, to share with the best support known to man
the op shop is a vital hastings community outreach, that helps so many people with goods, clothes etc that they need, and all money made goes back into community projects. hastings cannot afford to lose such a valuable asset. it was devastating when someone burned it down. please get it back up and running so it can help the people of hastings once more.
I have been a volunteer in the Opportunity for the last seven years. It was heart breaking to see the devastation the fire caused. We have been in a temporary building for the last 18 months approximately.
A valuable community outreach on so many levels.
This Op Shop is of great importance to the local community. It is a friendly meeting place where items can be purchased knowing that local charities will benefil.
This is a wonderful and much needed addition to the Hastings community.
A great community
Holy Trinity and it’s volunteers do incredible work in and around our little town.
I take my 2 yo to their Monday playgroup and been into the temporary op shop HEAPS! I sincerely hope this project gets what it needs. It’s a winner for everyone in Hastings.
Good luck xx
This sounds like a great idea for engaging the community, in supporting each other.
The community needs this rebuilt urgently to keep supporting locals
We need this project now!!!
This Option supported my school to buy sound equipment for the choir. It exists solely to give back into the community. I hope you vote for it to keep supporting the Hastings community.
I strongly endorse this project - a great community group in my Electorate.
Maybe next time you’re in town on a Monday, pop into the playgroup the volunteers run. 10-11:30.
(Minister Tim makes a great coffee) 😜
A community asset
It is as worthwhile Centre to encourage people to recycle and also where the locals can purchase cheap goods. The warm friendly welcome customers receive from all the volunteers is noticed in the district.
A Hastings and community icon; supports locals!
Be great to have this Op Shop rebuilt again as it supports so many local Hastings organisations
