Dogs and their accompanying humans will have access to a fully fenced play space during daylight hours where dogs can enjoy off-lead play, set against the beautiful Colquhoun State Forest. Space is available to divide the park into various sections allowing for different size dogs and different play styles to enjoy an off lead area. Various obstacles and equipment will help break up the space and maintain an interesting play space while seating for people will allow people to sit and relax while supervising their dogs having fun.
The local community will benefit from a designated, purpose built dog park in many ways:
1. For the dog owning community members, it provides a destination designed specifically for dog and human interaction, relaxation and play.
2. For dogs and their humans who come to the park, it will help connect them to nature and increase their exercise and activity levels.
3. For the non-dog owning portion of the community, especially for those who are scared of off leash dogs, it will help reduce off leash dogs at parks.
4. It will provide another facility for tourists to enjoy.

We have two beagles and they love to socialise with other dogs, but to let them off lead anywhere (even if it was legal) we need a fenced area. This would be an amazing addition to the area - there are so many dog owners in Lakes.
Thank you BeagleMum, I so hope that we are able to get it off the ground. It is exciting!
Excellent Idea, I Hope it gets approved
There is just no where to let dogs run without a leash we need need this dog park
We must must must have a large and safe off leash dog park in east gippsland.
There’s nowhere to legally walk dogs off lead.
Just asking the hard question, as a community project, the sponsor must be a genuine registered NOT FOR PROFIT. Lakes Grain Shed YOUR PROJECT PARTNER is listed as a REGISTERED BUSINESS NAME with ASIC
Entity name: The Trustee for Bickley Family Trust
ABN status: Active from 31 Mar 2017
Entity type: Discretionary Trading Trust
Goods & Services Tax (GST): Registered from 01 Apr 2017
Main business location:

Please explain?
Happy to answer your enquiry. The Pick My Project funding is for projects to benefit the community, and no business or person is allowed to profit from the funding of the project.
The partner organisation must have a Victorian ABN so funds can be distributed to them - including not for profit organisations.
A business is allowed to be the partner organisation so long as they are not profiting from the project. As the dog park is located away from the Lakes Grain Shed and the Lakes Grain Shed does not supply the materials needed for the dog park to get up and running - they do not profit in any way. The Lakes Grain Shed's roll in this project is to help promote the project and to handle the administrative reporting requirements if the project gets through. The Lakes Grain Shed agreed to partner on this project because they have had many enquiries from their clientele about whether such a facility exists, and they recognise a community interest in having a fenced in off lead dog park.
This would be a brilliant asset to the area which I would use regularly and know others who would also.
I work in tourism and am regularly asked about an off-lead area for dogs in and around Bairnsdale & Lakes Entrance. Visitors are always very surprised, disappointed, and sometimes even angry, that we are unable to provide this for them and their dogs.
Great idea! This will be awesome for locals and tourists
Great idea. As a husky owner we can't let our 2 dogs off lead so a fenced area would be great. Right now we drive 3 hours to Donvale which is the closest fenced dog park.
Knowing more about that dog park and how it operates would be great! Do they have a contact person?
Im pretty sure that one is just maintained by the local shire
An off leash dog park is a great way for dogs to learn to socialise with other dogs and people.
Always find it a rather hit or miss to meet other people and their dogs when taking my dogs to a park
