As an emergency relief agency providing a variety of supports for members of our community, the introduction of a community-based garden will enable us to sustainably offer fresh food items to service users. This project will also incorporate a variety of community, government and private enterprise organisations all working together to bring the project to life. Organisations like the local Bayside City Council Youth Team, Food for Change, Bunnings, local schools, artists, volunteers and other community members will all be involved in working toward developing an area to promote a healthy and positive lifestyle, whilst supporting our core business

This project promises to:
- incorporate a vegetable and herb garden for fresh options to distribute to those in need;
- provide an inviting area to work in the garden, congregate or visit;
- provide a healthy environment for community to come and work in the garden;
- transform a relatively unattractive wasted space into a vibrant and viable food source;
- provide more opportunities for volunteerism and community engagement;
- illustrate how a number of different agencies and organisations with differing interest areas, can work together to benefit the community and support those in need.

Community gardens not only provide food, they bond nationalities together by a common interest in gardening and so create a community. We should create many, many community gardens in the Bayside area to bring people together as well as to provide fresh, healthy food for those in need.

Thanks for your comments Lesley! We certainly agree and would like to do as much as we can to create healthy, sustainable, community spaces in the area for everyone to enjoy and benefit.
