Community Engagement Program - Gather Ground

Through the medium of film, we're aiming to gather ground on diverse social issues facing communities, sharing stories of light and dark, of change, and of reality. Hosted fortnightly, we're proposing a regular gathering around a changing thematic core, with words and workshops facilitated by people with lived or learned experiences, relating to said theme. Together, we hope to welcome anyone and everyone to digest thought provoking film, narrative and food. Gather Ground will be a home for open conversation, an accessible space to engage and develop resilient and connected communities.

Harnessing the familiarity of food, and its ability to foster care and cohesion, with each event we hope to feed mind, body and soul through not for profit catering. Paired with themes reflecting the changing needs and shape of what we call community, addressing amongst other things, Brunswick's rapid redevelopment, navigating the complexities of mental health, exploring sex themes, food and body positivity, we hope to uncover means to cope, to understand, to negotiate our environments, our communities and our selves.

Our journey will be collectively documented in a zine, for everyone, by everyone.
