This project aims to maximise the potential of a tired and rundown community space to make it safer and more encouraging of active and participatory use. The project involves a number of significant transformations. These include resurfacing the existing basketball/netball court and making it more attractive and safer to use. It includes completely re-landscaping the boundary areas to encourage access and thereby invite the local community to use the space. The project also includes re-modelling the existing stepped brick amphitheatre to promote impromptu and planned community performances.

This project creates a high use active and passive recreation space for the local community – a place for people to gather, meet and play. The local community is very diverse and includes a substantial public housing estate and housing for seniors. The re-modelled facility will encourage and provide opportunities to get out, be active and adopt healthy lifestyles. Small community gatherings and interactions will also be facilitated by the innovative aspects of the project. Landscaping will significantly enhance the streetscape and amenity of the neighbourhood. Locals will gravitate towards the space for its functionality, safety and attractiveness.

Improving this landscape will benefit all students and the surrounding community. Well worth my vote.

Definitely needs an upgrade and needs all the support it can get.

Would be a great improvement for the school. The area needs all the facilities it can get with the growing number of families in the area.

Revamping this space will assist in creating a safer, more accessible space. It will also be more attractive to the community and enervate a tired school facility. It might also be used for other non sport activities such as performance or outdoor exhibition space

Activating this space will create a much needed outdoor space for the neighbourhood. The court upgrade will mean more casual sport use and the opportunity to use the area as an amphitheatre for small gatherings opens up new possibilities for both locals and the school to engage with each other and their community.

A revamp to make it more appealing for broader community use is a great idea. Will also make the students feel prouder and respect their environment.

Great for the wider community but the students at this densely-built inner city school with no proper ground space certainly need a better space to be outdoors and active in.

Hi, all students have access to a large section of Princes Park during their breaks. It's common to see a few hundred kids at the park during lunch time.

This space is easily accessible to the community and will be used 24/7. It already is but needs an upgrade. Win/win for school and broader community.

This area needs a new lease on life absolutely - I think it's a great idea for the Princes Hill community and also for all of the Princes Hill Secondary College students.

Interesting proposal! I wonder whether additional steps would be needed to encourage people to start using the space as intended. Eg invitations to a series of events, signage & website to help people know how to make use of the space, self-service booking system?
