St Silas facilities are nestled in the heart of North Balwyn and are widely used by the community for several activities. Currently our main downstairs space is out of action due to flooding, and bathroom facilities need an upgrade, restricting the following groups:
Mainly Music
Messy Church
Wednesday Playgroups (toddlers)
Table Tennis
Taekwondo
Kids Club
The planned new Chinese Congregation
Mid-week connect groups
Women on Thursday
New Mum's connect group
as well as other church-based activities.
Our plan is to make the site both more available and more attractive for those families and groups that attend gatherings at the site.
Integral to sharing these facilities with groups is the provision of safe and suitable facilities. The facilities are in dire need of an upgrade. The downstairs area, including art room and playground, host a number of children’s activities which are open to the public. The rooms supporting these activities have flooded for the third time in two years, requiring carpet to be removed and activities to be temporarily relocated. We are also anxious to upgrade our toilet facilities to enable them to be gender inclusive and accessible for those with disabilities, to ensure equality of access to the local community.

Present facilities are from late 1950s/early 1960s. Time for a facelift.
This facility is well used by all ages in the local community and needs this important maintenance work to ensure all its spaces can be better utilised.
St Silas is an important local community facility. The upgrades should include a permanent solution to the flooding problem! The proximity of the facility to local primary and high schools, suggests that a higher quality facility could potentially engage and encourage participation in various activities and events by even more members of our community.
St Silas has served the local community in many ways for decades - the site now needs some TLC!
This is one place where a drought would be welcome after 3 floods.
3 floods is a real kick in the gut! I really hope you get the funding to help make this excellent site the sort of place that can bless the local community

The facility is very well used by many and has for many years. It urgently needs an upgrade which will create a long-term solution to the recurring issues.
