Our community gym aims to provide a fun, inclusive environment for fitness, well-being and social cohesion. It will be accessible to people of any level of fitness, ability and age. It has a dedicated equipment room, flexible classroom and a large indoor-outdoor training area. All gym users should have a comfortable environment and appropriate equipment, to accommodate those with disabilities or needing rehabilitation, as well as the able-bodied.
Our project is to fit out the gym with some great exercise equipment, TV and speakers/sound system, landscaping, temperature control and solar panels to help minimise running costs.
Fitting out the gym for a fun, pleasant experience will encourage participation in activities that improve physical and mental well-being. We want to create a supportive and socially engaging environment, with the benefits of improving mood, self-esteem and alleviating social withdrawal.
We have significant health challenges to address – in 4 years our rate of people not achieving a minimum level of physical activity went from 20% to 54%, chronic illness and obesity is increasing. The gym provides a healthy option for all, but particularly men who tend to be difficult to engage about their mental health.

This is a great project, patronized and one that needs support for all members of our country community. It supports older people in muscle, bone and balance development and also provides a laugh while we exercising. This is a very worthy project.
