I loved being part of the leadership group that initiated this wonderful event in Clayton. It's a must do every year. Community building across all nationalities.

The Festival will bring together all the diverse communities that call Clayton and its surrounding areas home. The day will utilise all the fantastic spaces in and around the Clayton Community Centre. There will be dancing, food, cultural displays and workshops, information stalls, library reading sessions and much more. There will be lots for our younger members of the community and our children. All our new and emerging communities will be invited to showcase their arts and culture. There will be opportunities to use the community center theatre for dance, music, poetry. Everyone is invited to join in the fun!
Monash is one of the most culturally diverse cities in Australia with 45% of residents born overseas, well above the Greater Melbourne average. We have seen a large increase in migrants to Monash since 2006 with almost 10,000 new migrants to our city. Our largest migrant population comes from Asia with 19% of residents born in China, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Many of these residents reside in Clayton and the surrounding areas. The Festival will bring together our diverse local communities to build an understanding of our differing cultures and heritage. It will break down barriers for greater understanding!
