Membership has quadrupled in the past three years and we have outgrown our derelict, termite ridden shed. A purpose built facility would contain areas for instruction/theory, a kitchen/eating/meeting/socialising area, an office and equipment storage. We could immediately increase our range and frequency of programs, add an Adult Riders Club to encourage older community members and host inter-club, regional & interstate education & competition days, open to the public year-round. A new facility could accommodate the many requests we receive from tourists, visitors and residents as we would be able to expand our Come'N'Try, Junior Riders and coaching programs.

We have the drive, enthusiasm, knowledge and skills to expand our sporting and educational horsemanship programs however the potential to involve more of our isolated rural community is severely hampered by the lack of facilities. The proven benefits of cultivating and maintaining physical fitness, skills, mental health & well being throughout life are greatly enhanced by the responsibility, education, skills & companionship gained by working with and caring for animals. The myriad direct flow-on benefits for individuals (particularly at-risk youth), locals, tourists, accommodation and businesses from increased patronage and Open Days would be enormous. Our town supports our new endeavour!

There are some very enthusiastic horse riders in Mallacoota and the numbers are increasing. A clubhouse is essential to the success of running events, meetings and social gatherings. The existing clubhouse is so old and there is fear of it collapsing. A NEW clubhouse is well overdue and I encourage council to consider this project.
