The park is an open treed space available to the local community and visitors currently with basic facilities of a free BBQ, picnic settings and public toilets. To make it attractive and exciting a Welcome "Garfield" Wheel designed by the Chewton Primary School students listing everything of interest in the area (community groups, historic sites, agencies etc.) will be installed; a gravel court (petanque sized) will be installed for mulit-use (a stage, bowls, marbles, whatever); shade sails will cover the picnic settings; Indigenous golden wattles of the area will be planted and a welcoming sign will include a history timeline.

As part of their Living in the Community program, the students from Chewton Primary School are planning a Community Expo later this year where local groups and businesses of Chewton will be on display - their websites will be put on the "Garfield" wheel to show everyone what an interesting place we live in. The town is growing daily and a space such as this is special where people can gather in an open friendly setting - community connections! The property, including the well used Town Hall, is owned and managed by the members of the Chewton Domain Society.
