To celebrate 5 years of free community lunches delivered by Open Table throughout Melbourne, all made using food that would otherwise be thrown away, we will be holding a free and inclusive cultural celebration open for all members of the community to attend. This will be a sustainable event, where possible we will partner with local businesses to capture food that would otherwise be wasted to cater for this free event. We will invite local musicians and speakers to share in this celebration of our diverse and thriving community.

This event will be delivered in an inclusive, comfortable environment for people to come together to talk about shared experiences of place, food and culture. Open Table exists to create community cohesion within our diverse society, and also provide the opportunity to strengthen social skills for everyone wishing to participate more fully in our community.

Open Table is a platform for a wider conversation about sustainable food systems and community connectedness. We are adamantly secular and independent, and strive to create inclusive events where people from across the local community are welcome — in particular those who are marginalised.
