The proposed project is located in the towns recreation reserve. This reserve is used by the entire community including tennis, cricket, rugby, the primary school, dog walkers and those exercising. Mums and dads can park at the reserve and walk their children to school reducing congestion around the school.
The project includes the construction of a new footpath through the commemorative Avenue with plaques placed at each tree. The reserve does not currently have a footpath and it is envisaged that a pathway will give people the opportunity to reflect on the contribution made by Cardinia servicemen and women.
There is no public space within the Cardinia district which recognises the sacrifice made from this area during WW1. The Avenue will help new residents to the area understand the sacrifice made by the district during both world wars. It will also convey to the users of the Recreation Reserve something of the history of the area. The footpath will run between the existing Second World War Avenue (photo) and the new First World War Avenue and will be a quiet place for reflection. This path will connect to an existing path in the town and public parking.

As an ex Serviceman I do support anything that honours the service of those who went before.
