Park Ridge PS Principal David Mann knows the benefits of human-canine interactions.
He is enthusiastic about the 'Canine-enriched Walking Talking Coaching Program' and how it can increase wellbeing for his school community, all students, teachers, caregivers and residents within a five kilometre radius of the school. Across a 12 month span the local community will have access to: an Appreciative Inquiry workshop with Tom Brunzell and the Berry Street team, individual, group and large public events facilitated by highly qualified Positive Education coaches. This coaching will help you identify your strengths, practice savouring positive experiences and build wellbeing.

Public Health data reflects that many members of our community are functioning rather than flourishing, anxiety regardless of age and stage, is at a record high, having negative impacts on personal happiness and health, relationships, school and work satisfaction and performance. Wellbeing coaching is one of the most effective ways to educate and practice much needed wellbeing skills . Current neuroscience reflects the benefits of Canine-Assisted Education within a variety of populations and settings, including: decreased levels of anxiety, improved mood and increased stamina to focus and learn. The program can be flexibly adapted to a non- canine coaching practice.

Developing relationships with animals is a way to connect with nature and young people in Australia and many other parts of the world are losing this deeply important connection due to the rise in technology and urban indoor living. I applaud Roz on this initiative

Flash was very welcome at school and all the children thought he was great! All schools should have a dog as so many children don't have pets at home.

Wonderful initiative that couldn’t be lead by a more passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgable... dog, Flash and of course the wonderful Rafa. Roz you are superb and I know from experience you make magic for the children you work with.

The program encompasses all domains of wellbeing and it makes it more powerful by walking outdoors with a four legged warm and cheeky companion! Brilliant idea.
