The community would like to implement an environmental protection program including planting 2000 trees, installing barriers/fencing where appropriate, on GMW freehold lake perimeter lands at Cairn Curran Reservoir. This will provide shade to users of the facility, as well as help secure soil and water quality. It will benefit all public recreational users and farms who rely on the water.

With the growing interest in nature-based activities, providing shade to users of the facility, as well as habitat for birdlife, is vital. This is particularly so if we want to attract and retain nature tourists in this area. Soil and water protection is also critical. Planting trees will address and bring awareness to all of these. It will also provide community with the opportunity to come together in the exercise of planting itself.

Such an asset to the Shire - would be great to really rejuvenate this place with more tree plantings.
